Kevin has 19 years experience. He has held positions as a Corrections Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Field Training Officer, K-9 Officer, Department Training Officer, and Chief Of Police. Kevin is a General Instructor, Senior Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, ASP Baton Instructor, and Radar Instructor.
Sgt. Kevin Weigand is in charge of the Training Program. The Training Program is newly formed under his leadership. He Supervises one Training Sgt. and three Cpl.'s.. He makes sure that all the officers have at least 80 hours of advanced training per year and 72 hours of in service training . Of those in service training hours, 24 of them are on the firing range where we do regular qualification and advanced firearm training along with one low light firing exercise.
All new recruits that are hired go through a training program. The program is flexible based on the experience/training. All new officers out of the academy receive 4-12 weeks of field training with a Field Training Officer. After the Field Training Officer/Shift Supervisor feels the recruit is ready for solo status, the recruit will ride approx. 1 week for a Final evaluation.
